One Rugged Dive Light!

Back in September of 1996 I bought my UK400 after taking my Open Water class in Vancouver BC.  Over the next year I went on hundreds of dives with it while I was getting my Instructor rating and since then I've taken it on hundreds more.

I'm a volunteer diver with the Contra Costa Sheriff's Department Dive Team in California now.  The night before last I was called out to help do a body recovery and brought my light along.  Unfortunately the outer housing was not tightened down when it went into the water (I gave it to the person who was first in and it never got tightened).  The bulb stayed on for hours while we were searching, and then waiting in the water to remove the body.

After the dive I noticed that the light had gone out and entire thing was full of nasty (although fresh) water.  I took the light home, rinsed it off and let it dry over night.  When I tried it this morning, it turned on, not problems, even the same bulb and batteries.

Although it's definitely showing it's age at this point and it's not the brightest dive light I've used, it is certainly the most durable and rugged piece of dive equipment I've ever had.

Thanks,

M.
