UK International Awarded 2006 Innovation Award

Electrical Contracting Products Magazine Recognizes LitFinger™ Utility Light

UK International, the leading designer and manufacturer of lights, protective cases and accessories for use in harsh or difficult environments, today announced that LitFinger™, the first special utility light for use in hotstick operations in poorly lit areas, has been awarded a 2006 INNOVATION Award from Electrical Contracting Products magazine. The award was presented to the company at the recent National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Tradeshow in Boston.

Innovative products from across the nation were evaluated by a distinguished panel of professional electrical contractors on six criteria: Innovation; Ease of Use; Cost Effectiveness; Quality Contribution; Maintainability; and Productivity Improvements. The UK LitFinger™ took the top award in the Safety Equipment and Clothing Category.

“One of the most rewarding experiences that a manufacturer can have is having one of your designs recognized by the professionals in your industry as a valuable product”, said Walter Kaihatu, President of UK International. “I feel honored to be able to work with such a world-class team of innovative and technical designers, and I am so pleased that their hard work is being awarded by their peers”, said Kaihatu.

About LitFinger™
LitFingeris designed by linemen for linemen. This innovative hotstick tool from UK International provides light exactly where it is needed. Instead of fighting with truck-mounted spotlights or handheld flashlights, linemen can now instantly and easily illuminate their work area with LitFinger™. No more struggling with shadows, underbrush, tree limbs and inadequate lighting solutions; linemen just shine LitFinger’s bright one-watt LED light, and light is available where and when it is needed.

LitFinger™ is extremely light (6.8 ounces with batteries), minimizing its weight on the ends of hotsticks. And its durable design makes it virtually unbreakable; it withstood a 3000-volt arc test and still functioned normally.

With LitFinger™, Linemen have adequate lighting to work on fuse barrels, cutouts, switches, and disconnects. And because LitFinger™ provides ample lighting in night or low-light environments, they can now work much more efficiently and safely.
